TA'RI TRADING POST

Formerly known as the Barrel, recent developments have increased pressure on Waver Velvet and his allies to find safe places and expand their network. In the spring of 2701 after Caer Scima's fall, Thrall was placed in charge of the old location. He managed to pool his resources and renovate the building somewhat, converting it from a coffee house into a trading post. The post is located outside the forests of Nimh Gleanne, near the border between Glaschu and Dorchadas.

The trading post serves as a neutral area for business and resource trading. No fighting is allowed on premises unless it's a non-lethal duel or spar supervised by Thrall himself. The trading post also has another purpose: information gathering. Merchants and traders often know rumors and current events, and Thrall will pass on all of this information to Waver Velvet (in secret, of course).

APPEARANCE

x original Barrel floor plans (old)

There is a carved wooden sign with blessings of safety.

Dark red banners billow quietly against the brick outside of the building. There is a paved area in the front for merchants and traders to set up and conduct business. There is also a small stable near the shed for mounts and such. Notably, the doorways are charmed to allow people through who are ridiculously tall.

The first floor has a small bar with stools to sit on, and there are comfortable furs and pillows set up in front of a large fireplace for travelers to lounge. The employee area has been expanded to include more storage, as is customary for trading posts of this magnitude; there is a door that leads directly into a shed, and there is an outside entrance as well. The kitchen remains largely the same, but Thrall is not the best cook so quality will... vary...

The second floor remains largely unchanged from the original plans. The rooms there are reserved for Thrall's guests. They're standard, nice but fairly basic, as orcs live in simplicity.

There is also a basement beneath the first floor. Once accessible by stairway, Thrall has modified it so that the only way in is by shifting a huge flat slab of rock hidden behind a wall. It weighs a ton-- literally. This is where Thrall goes when he doesn't want to be bothered. It's rather simple, all things considered. It houses his small collection of books, letters, and other possessions.

RESIDENTS

Thrall is currently running this whole thing by himself. Apologies for the shitty food and drink.

THRALL
The caretaker of the old location of the Barrel. Thrall is intimidating and perhaps even monstrous at first glance, but he is something of a nature guardian and hopes for peace.

HISTORY

EARLY MARCH 2701;
x Waver transfers ownership of the old Barrel's location in Nimh Gleanne to Thrall.

APRIL 2701;
x Thrall offers some refugees compensation if they help him remodel the building a bit. It'll be open mid-April, but of course there will be some rough patches as Thrall is the only staff.

JULY 2701;
x Thrall takes a small leave of absence for a month, leaves Koltira in charge.

MAY 2702;
x Seelie shardbearers are discouraged. There is now a sign posted saying as much.

NOV 150;
x The Trading Post has been yanked through a rift and is in pretty much the same condition as before, but it's now neutral and open to all again.
