THIS BIRD IS FUCKING TALKING?
| This is a catch-all post for everything off-locket, timeskip, etc etc. Please note the date of the intended message and the method in the subject line of your comment. Thank you!
personal locket call, audio, 2/17
[This also doubles as "are you okay" but he's not sure if Thrall would take that as a compliment that Hiro's a little worried, or an insult that a war chief can't take of himself.]
no subject
Hiro! It's good to see you well.
[Everything's been so chaotic since the battle. He lost track of Hiro somewhere in that time. Lost track of everyone, really.]
I am staying in a village called Azure, in La Llorona. Are you safe? Many people were sent to the Spires after the castle fell. I looked for you among the ones I escorted, but I could not find you.
no subject
I'm fine. I'm heading to some spires over the next couple of days. [Though this is the first time he's heard about this village. Tell him more, Thrallmax.] What's Azure? And how'd you get there anyway?
no subject
Good, good. I am sure some of the craftsmen will have need of your expertise.
[He smiles, softer now.]
It's a settlement protected by shardbearers. I heard they were in need of help, so I came to stay with them a while. They have a... spirit problem of some sort.
I... walked. In retrospect, I should not have gone through La Llorona alone, but it is done.
no subject
I'm going to try to do what I can. [He looks a little pleased at the compliment at least.]
…huh. [Nope. Never heard of this.] What kind of a spirit problem? ["What does that even mean…?" Also the face he makes is just sort of flat because really? After everything? Bro stop traveling alone.
Says the hypocrite.] You weren't walking through the fires were you?no subject
I... [For a second, he seems doubtful.] I do not know. I have been praying for guidance. What I do know is that the spirits of La Llorona are very restless and possibly even hostile. I left offerings every time I trespassed, and that seemed to appease them somewhat, but it will take a great deal more than gifts to soothe their fury. Obviously the fires did not help.
[He manages a chuckle.] -- And I am not fireproof! I went in a roundabout way so that I would not have to sleep in the forest. All is quiet for the moment.
[Poor kid, though. As light as Hiro is keeping the conversation, Thrall is worried about the things he's seen. But it doesn't seem appropriate to blab about over the lockets, either.]
no subject
Hostile's usually not a good sign. [Hmm...] What if you offered something else in exchange? Like protecting them from people that upset them?
Hey, just checking! I don't know a lot about orcs, remember? [He sounds amused at least. But Hiro does pretty well keeping things light and ignoring problems and worries. They don't matter anymore. As soon as he gets the confirmation that people are alive and well, he settles pretty quickly so though there's still a hint of nervous energy he's sliding back into how he was during the feast.]
no subject
[He's still smiling, and it's in his tone.] I bleed the same as you, [he says gently.] Though it's a different color, so perhaps that is not... er... hmm.
[He clears his throat.]
Do you have any injuries that have not been seen to? I can teach you how to set a broken bone but it would be better to heal you in person.
no subject
[...Thrall. Thrall please. His lips are twitching in a way that suggests he's trying not to laugh, holding up his arm and then the other to show him through the locket.] Neither of us are bleeding so I'll have to see the color another time. [Though there's a pause. Setting a broken bone would be useful. He's...okay truthfully he's been in hospitals a lot growing up but he's never paid attention to the procedures. That was always Tadashi.]
I'm fine. Really. [But that's sparking a separate idea...something he might need to learn later on if he's planning on staying here. And then ever-so-casually--] I've broken a lot of bones before but I've never learned to set them. If something breaks you'll be the first to know.
no subject
Ancestors willing, we will not need to bleed again for a while. [He shakes his head.] Clumsy, are we? I could show you right now, if you have the time.
no subject
Well no…sometimes my inventions don't work the way I want to. ["Or I got beat up by kids when Tadashi wasn't around."] Are you trying to tell me you have a broken bone you need to mend?
no subject
As much as I believe in learning by doing, I am not quite that dedicated.
Do you know how to make a splint?
no subject
I'm disappointed. [He thinks for a moment, humming under his breath. Tadashi's splinted a few of his broken bones as a kid and he understands the theory but his memory on the matter's a little rusty.
Until he gets his boon.] It's just like two panels put together, right?no subject
[He sets the locket aside so that he can rustle through his things. Even out in the forest, he's prepared. He has a little bit of rope in his hands now.]
You will want rope to tie them together. A splint is a good temporary solution so that you can make your way to a healer. If you break your arm, you should wrap it like this...
[It's a little hard to maneuver the locket and demonstrate, but he's trying.]
... with this knot.
Setting a bone is painful enough to make even a fully-grown man fall unconscious. It takes an incredible amount of strength to set bones, especially your own. Hiro-- do not attempt it unless you have no alternative.
no subject
I can make a splint but setting a bone seems a little more complicated. [Although really Thrall, you say "Hiro no" and he hears "Hiro yes."] What else could I do then?
disclaimer: i only know what i read off google. PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME
He slips off the rope and grabs a roll of bandages instead.]
It can be. If the bone is broken enough to... pierce the skin, it requires being cut open and set into place that way, then sewn up. The last thing you want to risk is an infection. If it doesn't break the skin, it will be easier to deal with in most cases. You can usually tell what bones need to be put back in place; once that is done, you must wrap it so that it does not heal wrong.
[Thrall begins the task of wrapping his own arm with the cloth bandages.] Like this. Not too tight, but slightly overlapping. And take care to leave the thumb free.
no subject
Here's hoping it never comes to that either.]
What about if you put it back wrong? I mean you can see how the bones fit together but what if it's too damaged to even wrap it?
no subject
If it is too damaged to wrap or splint, cover it lightly with a bandage and try not to move it. The last thing you need is an infection in the bone.
Sometimes, there is no easy solution. Then it falls on us to minimize the danger of that happening.
no subject
...not even have Baymax. Though...though wait a minute, the chip was in Baymax's hand here so that means it'd be in his hand at home, right? He'll just have to remember that when he gets back, problem solved. That doesn't mean that the problem's solved here though and he frowns as well, mind already wandering to possible scenarios and solutions.]
I kinda know a little first aid, but not as much as some people back home. [There's that admittance, at least.] But at least we have these things to call people if we need to, right? [He actually reaches up to flick the locket with his other hand, watching it spin. Oops, sorry Thrall.] That's gotta count for something.
no subject
Yes. You should let people know where you are going and how long you will be gone, if possible. [He pauses because he knows he's been bad at that lately.] I will endeavor to do so as well. Admittedly, I am not used to... working by myself. I keep forgetting that I do not have a council of advisors and bodyguards in the shadows, as I have for years. It is humbling.
no subject
But he doesn't have to verbalize that. Thrall can probably tell by the look on his face but he's not going to verbally trash the idea.]
Does it bother you to work by yourself?
no subject
But then it's back to himself.]
I have one of my soldiers here and my oath-brother. If I need their help I know I will have it, so it's not as if I'm entirely alone. It's... [He searches for the word.] But all of my former responsibilities have been replaced with new ones. In that way, it's both freeing and-- frightening. I was not always Warchief, of course. But I hardly know how to be anything else.
[He shakes his head.]
... My apologies, Hiro. I did not mean to push my burdens on you.
no subject
...you didn't tell me you found people. [There's a grin though because man, that's awesome.] I think we've all had to shift around our priorities since we got here. Monarchs sorta made sure of that. Most of my inventions still wouldn't work here if I wasn't at the Station and I can't just stay there and not do anything else.
[Aw Thrall.] It's not pushing anything. It's okay.
no subject
I did. Koltira helped me escort some refugees to a spire. I could not have done it without his help. [That's a lie. He could have, but he wouldn't have been able to sleep at all the whole trip.
He smiles, then, a soft and slight thing around his tusks.]
Have you started any new projects?
no subject
So where's Koltira now? [That seems to be the important question here. But Thrall asks an even more important question and it seems to slide right off of Hiro's radar.]
Where do you think I'm going? [A bright grin, excitement present at the idea of starting something new.] Have you met Saber? She wanted me to do something for one of the spires.
