PLANS Thrall needs a network, so he will be reaching out to people on all sides. Those with information will interest him greatly. He may do his best to smooth over anti-shardbearer sentiment but there are no solid plans to get him involved with that yet. He is slowly heading in a more neutral direction as he despises war, and to that end, he will also be shielding/protecting children, refugees, and other non-combatants. Much of his energy will be devoted to healing the damage the war has wrought and communing with spirits.
SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS Thrall will have his own spot of land to outfit and strengthen as he pleases. This new base will act as a great place of operations for him, and a good place to stop since it's basically right in the middle of the map. Nice.

FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov) |
- SEPTEMBER - Suddenly language barriers everywhere! Thrall speaks Common and Orcish and orcs are natural polyglots so this should be fun.

- LATE OCTOBER- Samhain! Sun does not rise; characters can go wherever they please; Black Shuck makes another appearance; giant party on the Cathraon. Thrall is going to the party with Vol'jin and he'll be dressed up as a dwarf because that's fucking hilarious, is what it is.
- NOVEMBER - Some kind of prison break from Leathann. Thrall watches.
|
WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb) |
- LATE DECEMBER- Thrall will dress up as Greatfather Winter for Yule and give presents to the kids. Also both courts are trying to catch the White Hart.
- JANUARY - Caer Scima is finally rebuilt, but Thrall does not return.
- FEBRUARY - Something like Children's Week in Parrais. Several notable artists found murdered. Thrall is perturbed and wonders if it's tied to anti-shardbearer sentiment, but maybe not.

He tries to say yes, but talking as a wolf is... a thing. So instead he kinda goes--]
Wooooor.
[Okay.]
no subject
Later on, Thrall may notice that Hiro's a little more comfortable around animals than he is around people, but that's something to dwell on later. He's getting better at least.] Okay. [He's sliding a bit to try and peer into the wolf's face.]
How can we do this?
no subject
He'll have to be an orc for this.]
no subject
Go ahead. Do your thing.
no subject
It looks worse than I imagined, [he murmurs, nudging some of the blackened ground with his foot.]
no subject
Still salvageable though?
no subject
Haaah... yes, [he murmurs. He sounds distant.]
There is still life here.
no subject
But it's hurt. [It's a concept he's familiar with and he looks at his hands briefly like they've betrayed him. Stupid beginning healing magic. First aid isn't going to help the earth. How is he supposed to heal it?] What can we do to fix this?
no subject
The seeds below the ground cannot sprout because there is nothing to nourish them. Healing magic will revive the plants beneath us, and it should counteract whatever corruption is in the soil.
It will drain us, certainly, but it should work.
no subject
So we're just helping to remove the blockage so the earth can start repairing itself. [He looks at his hands, a small glow forming as he concentrates magic in his hands.] It'll be worth it though if that means restoring things to the way they were.
[He slips his bag off of his shoulder then, dropping it somewhere out of the way but within eyesight before he drops to the dirt next to Thrall also on his knees. He holds his hands above the soil, not sure what he should be feeling or even looking for.]
How do we start?
no subject
Even this... poison... has its place. I would argue it is not here and now, but we will manage.
[Enough talking. He crosses his legs beneath him, sitting solidly on the blackened ground. He pats the dirt in front of him.]
Sit across from me. Circles work best for channeling. I will lead and direct the energy into the ground between us, and then we will see what happens. [He's pretty sure they'll be able to do it. This exercise is just as much an experiment as it is discipline and training for Hiro.]
no subject
He's crawling to the other side of their patch, mimicking Thrall's movements and dropping down to settle in the dirt even as he dubiously pokes at the dirt.]
Okay. So...it's just sort of volleying the energy and keeping it flowing without breaking the cycle. [He seems to think he understands, but this isn't something he's ever done before. He's ready to listen to everything Thrall has to say here.] Let's try it.
no subject
You've got it.
[He holds his hands out, palms up.]
Place your hands on mine. Now... close your eyes. [He speaks slowly, calmly, his voice deep and warm.] Feel the ground beneath you. See it in your mind's eye.
When you are ready, channel as you would for the healing spell.
no subject
He doesn't ask questions, following instructions and letting his hands rest in Thrall's palms and shifting in the dirt again. He raises an eyebrow but he keeps his eyes closed, envisioning said-ground.
Okay…picturing the earth with a giant gaping wound wasn't exactly what he wanted but it would work. He thinks on it, keeping that in mind and he prepares himself to let the healing magic start, but…]
…are you sure about this? [Even as he asks though, his palms are glowing a soft, bright white. He's been practicing how to channel his healing powers from the monarchs the same way he channels his normal magic learned from Lemina.]
no subject
Thrall smiles, though with Hiro's eyes closed, he can't see it.]
This is part of my duties as a shaman-- but I must admit I have never attempted this before.
[He directs the healing energy down, down, down into the ground. It spreads from between them like a tree's roots, seeking the withered life beneath the ground.]
no subject
I promise not to tell anybody if you mess up. [The impish smirk is enough to show he's just teasing even as he's working with Thrall's own magic. He cracks open an eye, careful not to break concentration as he stares at the energy flowing downward.]
...whoa. [He's never really seen magic like this.] This is what you can really do?
no subject
He can't help cracking a little bit of a smile at Hiro's amazement, though. What a kid. It's baby's first healing session, after all, and he's still fairly new to this magic business, but Thrall finds it endearing.]
This is what we can both do. Together.
[The energy swirls and continues downward still, leaving gentle sparkles across the dirt which soon disappear.]
If you concentrate, you can feel where the magic is going. It's a part of you, after all.
no subject
He's so enthralled by what they're doing he doesn't notice that Thrall's reacting to his reaction. Hiro's not sure if he's more amazed by what they're doing or that he's helping at all. He hasn't had much chance to use his healing powers since the monarchs bestowed them upon him, but this is incredible.]
Lemina told me something similar...that's how I use the magic she taught me. Envisioning where it's going so that I can push it outward. So it's the same thing here? We can direct it through its path in the earth if we concentrate on it? [He's trying to close his eye again to focus harder, but it's too cool not to watch.] What about extracting the rot from the earth, could we do that?
no subject
Yes. You've got it. I have found that some principles of magic are very similar in execution.
[That's an interesting idea, though, and he pauses.]
We could purge the rot effectively in a larger group, but with only the two of us, we should pace ourselves and only do so when it is necessary. It's much easier to support the earth's natural healing.
no subject
[He looks at the ground and frowns thoughtfully.] Same principle, huh? Use your magic too fast and you end up wiping yourself out? Kiiinda found out the hard way. [So he might have knocked himself on his ass a few days after he used his fire magic to help thaw everything in March, big deal.] So we're basically like...like antibiotics? We're helping out but it's really mostly the earth's own doing and we're speeding up the process. I think that makes sense. There's really nothing else we can do?
no subject
[When he's not throwing a tantrum over having no ideas, that is. Or being bored. God forbid Hiro gets bored.]
Ah, Hiro... [Please don't kill yourself trying to heal the land.] It is conservative in execution, but it will help the earth the most and tire us out at a reasonable rate. You can't expect big results instantly.
But if you want to try something else, I am always willing to hear your ideas.
[On Thrall's end, he can already hear the whisper of the life below ground waking up. But he doesn't share that just yet.]
no subject
[It's true. It's nice when people just sort of steer him on the right path and don't let him fall into a pit of tantrums and useless ideas, people who keep pushing him forward. He frowns at the idea of not expecting big results instantly though. Patience...isn't exactly his forte, even now.] I know, but there has to be a way to improve this, too. There's always a way to improve things isn't there? That's how our world works.
["That's what I'm used to" goes unsaid. He's thinking though, staring at the earth and the energy between him and Thrall flowing into the dirt.] I wish there was a way to cover more ground. Like a bigger circle? I don't know if that would even work.
no subject
There is always a way to improve things...
[An interesting theory. If Hiro can bring some improvement to what is traditionally very difficult magic, then he'll experiment for as long as it takes.]
If we had more people, that is what we would do. Our 'circle' is very small with just the two of us.
However... we could spread if you believe you can handle the task of guiding your own energy. That may be enough.
no subject
I think I get it now enough that I could probably guide it myself. It's all concentration isn't it? I wanna see how far we can cover just the two of us.
no subject
The worst that can happen is they'll just be tired. They have all month to try things out.]
Then let's try it.
[He halts the spell and gets up, dusts off his jeans. And then he begins walking backward.]
